(This message was added in version 6.7.0.) in /home4/scienrds/scienceandnerds/wp-includes/functions.php on line 6114Source: https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2022\/8\/23\/23318002\/twitter-bots-lawsuit-elon-musk-mudge-zatko-ceo-agrawal<\/a> This morning CNN and<\/a> The<\/em> Washington Post<\/em> reported<\/a> new whistleblower claims by Twitter\u2019s former head of security, Peiter \u201cMudge\u201d Zatko,<\/a> that the company\u2019s statistics on bot activity are misleading, its security approach sucks, and that execs aren\u2019t incentivized to look further. <\/p>\n The timing of the report is key, given Elon Musk\u2019s arguments about why he should be allowed to break his agreement to buy Twitter for $44 billion, and Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal has responded to the charges in an email sent to employees, posted to Twitter<\/a> by CNN reporter Donie O\u2019Sullivan.<\/p>\n In the letter, Agrawal repeats Twitter\u2019s public statement by claiming Zatko was fired earlier this year for \u201cineffective leadership and poor performance.\u201d As far as his accusations, the CEO claims the company is looking over what has been published but that what they\u2019ve seen is \u201ca false narrative that is riddled with inconsistencies and inaccuracies, and presented without important context.\u201d<\/p>\n The letter even claims Mudge \u201cwas accountable for many aspects of this work that he is now inaccurately portraying more than six months after his termination.\u201d<\/p>\n Ahead of an October 17th trial date for Twitter\u2019s case against Musk, Elon\u2019s legal team subpoenaed Zatko as well as former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey. Speaking to the Post<\/em>, Zatko said, \u201cThis would never be my first step, but I believe I am still fulfilling my obligation to Jack and to users of the platform.\u201d How much his statements change the case remains to be seen as well as what evidence there is of Twitter execs intentionally misleading the board and investors. The Post <\/em>article<\/a> cites University of Chicago Law School professor of law and economics Anthony Casey, who says, \u201cIt adds to (Musk\u2019s) case, but I still think he\u2019s got a weak case.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
