The first game to feature the technology will be the zombie-filled Dead Island 2<\/em>, which was just re-revealed at Gamescom\u2019s Opening Night Live event.<\/p>\n With Alexa Game Control, Amazon says you\u2019ll be able to do things like interact with NPCs and switch weapons just by using your voice. You won\u2019t need to use a wake word like \u201cAlexa\u201d or even have one of Amazon\u2019s Echo devices, and the company says that the feature will work with \u201cany microphone or headset connected to their PC or console.\u201d However, you will be able to use Alexa features like controlling smart home devices and ordering food.<\/p>\n You\u2019ll only be able to use Alexa Game Control while connected to the internet, but it\u2019s optional and not required to be able to play the game offline, Amazon spokesperson Michael Poulter confirmed to The Verge. <\/em>And while you won\u2019t need an Amazon Prime membership to use Alexa Voice Control, you will have to have an Amazon account.<\/p>\n In Dead Island 2<\/em> specifically, which is set to launch on February 3rd, 2023<\/a>, you\u2019ll be able to use your voice to access \u201cin-game features like navigation (by saying \u2018where is the nearest workbench\u2019)\u201d and \u201cmanipulate zombie hordes (by saying \u2018hey zombie\u2019),\u201d according to an Amazon blog post<\/a>.<\/p>\n At launch, Alexa Game Control will be available in English in North America; Amazon promises it\u2019s coming to \u201cmore countries and languages\u201d but didn\u2019t provide a timeline. And according to the Alexa Game Control website<\/a>, the feature will only work with PC or Xbox.
