Apple\u2019s announcements were big for readers today, so here we go:<\/p>\n

• Psst, wanna install an app?<\/strong><\/a>: Apple likes to keep things close to the vest, but Ivan<\/a> writes that the consumer tech giant is reportedly considering allowing people to sideload apps to their iPhone in iOS 17.<\/li>\n
• Apple makes things interest-ing<\/strong><\/a>: Last October, Apple unveiled a new financial product<\/a>, and today, the company spilled a little more tea about its Apple Card savings accounts, featuring a 4.15% interest rate, reports Romain<\/a>.<\/li>\n
• Watch this<\/strong><\/a>: Apple Watch users have been waiting \u2014 can we say patiently? \u2014 for a new software update. Well, Sarah<\/a> reports today the watch is likely to get its biggest software update since its 2015 debut.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

  Startups and VC<\/h2>\n

  Back in January, a $810 million deal fell apart to buy Angry Birds makers Rovio, but the company suggested they were still in talks with other potential interested parties. Today, Paul<\/a> reports that deal became official as Japanese gaming giant Sega has confirmed that it\u2019s buying Finland\u2019s Rovio<\/a> in an all-cash deal worth $775 million.<\/p>\n

  As the economy has gotten tougher, plenty of companies have switched from buying to renting. There\u2019s an acronym for this \u2014 XaaS, or \u201ceverything as a service,\u201d also referred to as \u201cservitization.\u201d An example of this would be ServiceNow, which automates services for enterprise operations. A newish player in this space is Equipme, out of Germany, which secured $3.8 million in a seed investment round<\/a> led by La Famiglia VC, Mike<\/a> writes.<\/p>\n

  No, you\u2019re not raising money to increase your runway<\/h2>\n

  Haje<\/a> often hears founders say they are raising money to increase their runway by 18 to 24 months. In a sense, that is accurate, but only from the startup\u2019s point of view.<\/p>\n

  That\u2019s not what an investor is looking for. Your company surviving for another year and a half is not the goal of a fundraise; that\u2019s a side effect at best. Ask yourself \u2014 what happens at the end of those 18 months?<\/p>\n

  Founders should communicate to investors what a round of funding unlocks. That\u2019s expressed in milestones, not in time. The goal is to transform the company sufficiently that you can do something that you cannot do at this moment, and in this piece, Haje breaks down how.<\/p>\n

  Luxury car enthusiasts gather \u2019round. Mercedes debuts the Maybach EQS SUV<\/a>, which includes features that Matt<\/a> writes are \u201cdripping with historic Maybach design elements: two-tone paint, imposing wheels, a proper hood ornament and, yes, a grill with filigree slats even though it\u2019s electric and there isn\u2019t a radiator to protect.\u201d<\/p>\n
