A decade ago, Porter Braswell started Jopwell, an online community for people in tech \u201cfrom underrepresented communities and backgrounds,\u201d reports Rebecca Szkutak.<\/p>\n

But expanding access doesn\u2019t solve every problem.<\/p>\n

\u201cRetention is a major challenge and still remains so,\u201d says Braswell, who\u2019s now launching 2045, a career platform that will support workers between 30 and 45 years old with coaching, advice and events.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s very taxing to be a professional of color in this country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you\u2019re a professional in the middle stage of your career and you look up and don\u2019t see someone who looks like you, it is exhausting.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
