In the latest phase of big plans for growth<\/a>, Peacock\u2019s<\/a> collaborating with Universal Pictures to produce original movies from LeBron James, John Woo, and Will Packer.<\/p>\n

Along with reclaiming some of NBC\u2019s most valuable shows<\/a> from other platforms and having the exclusive rights to stream NBCUniversal\u2019s movies<\/a> immediately after their theatrical releases, Peacock\u2019s big plan also includes producing a number of original films<\/a>. In a press release about its upcoming projects, Peacock president Kelly Campbell emphasized that the service sees itself as a place people come to looking specifically for films, and it\u2019s moving to meet customers\u2019 desires.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know people join Peacock to watch movies, so we are constantly adding more to serve fans,\u201d Campbell said. \u201cTogether with the Universal Filmed Entertainment Group, we are excited to deliver fresh, exclusive, original films next year to our customers in addition to the legendary Universal Pictures blockbuster films and beloved franchises streaming now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shooting Stars, <\/em>a LeBron James \u201corigin story\u201d from James and Maverick Carter\u2019s SpringHill Company that chronicles the basketball player\u2019s life as a teenager, will be one of the first Peacock original movies to hit the platform. Peacock also announced that it has greenlit Girls Trip <\/em>producer Will Packer\u2019s Praise This<\/em>, a feature starring Chloe Bailey \u201cas the newest member of a community\u2019s church choir who pushes her members in a hipper musical direction,\u201d and a reimagining of John Woo\u2019s The Killer. <\/em>Though Peacock said Woo will return to direct the new movie, there are currently no other details about The Killer<\/em>, but it, Praise This<\/em>, and Shooting Stars <\/em>are all slated to debut in 2023.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
