A Reddit admin has seemingly confirmed<\/a> that Reddit is blocking links to all<\/em> websites that end in .ru.<\/p>\n As far as RT and Sputnik are concerned, it\u2019s possibly the most concrete deplatforming of those channels yet \u2014 because while Apple, Google, Meta, Microsoft, Twitter, YouTube, and many others<\/a> have paused their ads or removed content or restricted discoverability<\/a> or stopped actively promoting content<\/a>, and both Facebook<\/a> and YouTube<\/a> have blocked content in the EU specifically<\/em>, none of those is the same thing as a blanket site-wide global ban on all links. <\/p>\n In a blog post<\/a> (via Engadget<\/em><\/a>), Reddit says it\u2019s already been rejecting ads \u201cthat target Russia or originate from any Russia-based entity, government or private,\u201d notes that the moderators of some subreddits have already blocked links to Russian state media on their own, and additionally says it\u2019s spending to help assist and house some of its staff in Ukraine.<\/p>\n Reddit seemingly admits that Russia\u2019s invasion of Ukraine will be an ongoing moderation challenge, though, and says it\u2019s put a process in place so moderators can escalate problems directly to the Reddit team.<\/p>\n We\u2019re keeping track of the latest implications and reactions from tech to Russia\u2019s invasion of Ukraine in this StoryStream<\/a>.
