\nTechnoblade, a popular Minecraft<\/em> YouTuber, has died from cancer age 23. <\/p>\n
In a video<\/a> uploaded to his YouTube channel titled \u201cso long nerds\u201d and narrated by his father, Technoblade thanked his fans and fellow streamers for their support over the years, and revealed that his real name was Alex. (He\u2019d \u201caccidentally\u201d let slip he was called Dave in an earlier video.)<\/p>\n
\u201cHello everyone, Technoblade here. If you\u2019re watching this, I am dead,\u201d he says. \u201cThank you all for supporting my content over the years. If I had another 100 lives, I think I would choose to be Technoblade again every single time, as those were the happiest years of my life.\u201d <\/p>\n
\n<\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p id=\"NXZT1o\">In the video, Technoblade apologizes for \u201cselling out so much in the past year\u201d by offering merchandise, but notes that, as a result, his siblings will be able to go to college. \u201cWell, if they want to,\u201d he adds. \u201cI don\u2019t want to put any dead brother peer pressure on them.\u201d <\/p>\n<p id=\"QGB76u\">Technoblade\u2019s father describes how the two discussed making a final video, but said Alex was \u201chaving a hard time doing the writing\u201d due to the effects of his illness. <\/p>\n<div class=\"c-float-right\">\n<aside id=\"i6Cqcy\"><q>\u201cHe finished that up and then he was done. He lived about another eight hours after that.\u201d<\/q><\/aside>\n<\/div>\n<p id=\"B9cmI1\">His father says Technoblade wrote the script for his final video from bed and died shortly afterwards. \u201cI don\u2019t think he said everything he wanted to say, but I think he got the main points,\u201d says his father. \u201cHe finished that up and then he was done. He lived about another eight hours after that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"n2yVND\">In a video <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/g9_aYyEDMD0\">posted to his channel in August 2021<\/a>, Technoblade revealed that he\u2019d been diagnosed with cancer. He says his right arm had begun to hurt in July that year, and he\u2019d initially thought it was due to repetitive strain syndrome. Eventually, he went to a doctor at the beginning of August and was diagnosed with sarcoma, a rare type of cancer that grows in the body\u2019s connective tissues.<\/p>\n<p id=\"oWWi2O\">\u201cI feel a bit silly talking about this with <em>Minecraft<\/em> in the background, it feels a bit out of place,\u201d says Technoblade in the video. \u201cBut I\u2019m a <em>Minecraft<\/em> YouTuber \u2014 I don\u2019t do a face-cam, which is, I guess, how most people would talk about serious things.\u201d <\/p>\n<p id=\"vWwVYH\">He jokes in the video about how his \u201cchemotherapy arc is going to be fantastic for content,\u201d and how, when he was calling people to tell them about the diagnosis, \u201cnobody took the news worse than my health insurance provider \u2014 they\u2019ve been inconsolable for weeks.\u201d <\/p>\n<p id=\"WDje64\">Messages of support, admiration, and condolences have poured in from the gaming community following Technoblade\u2019s passing, including from members of Dream SMP \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/22338418\/dream-smp-youtube-minecraft-fanart-fanfiction-video-edits-fandom\">a hugely-popular <em>Minecraft <\/em>server<\/a> that tells collaborative stories with well-known streamers (including Technoblade himself). <\/p>\n<p id=\"dCN2Hc\">\u201cEffortlessly funny. Endlessly talented. Gone too soon,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TedNivison\/status\/1542702228128952320\">tweeted YouTuber Ted Nivison<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p id=\"cBebT8\">\u201cTechnoblade was someone so many of us looked up to, myself included. Thank you for everything you did for so many.
